So this is pretty much a cover of Bruce Springsteen "Streets of Philadelphia". Which came out on the Philadelphia soundtrack. I loved both the movie and song when they first came out. The movie is still watchable but at parts is very dated. The song has always held up in my book as one of the most dark pop songs that had top 40 success to come out in 90s. The darkness gets stretched to limit in this version and its done perfectly.

I bought Buffalo 66 the other day and watched it for the first time. I can't stop watching scenes of this movie now. It is ridiculous and so rude and tension filled but undeniably sweet. When I first heard the album "Chain Gang of Love" it sounded like innocence. Combined with a fuzzy minimal garage pop sound, it was candy. That album means just as much to me as "Is This It" and "Turn On The Bright Lights". Their last album "Pretty In Black" was nice but a little too sweet. "Lust Lust Lust" brings the raw fuzz with the right amount of sugar. I guess this is early favorite for best album 2008.

This song is featured in the movie "Dedication" which I just posted the trailer for below. Also on the soundtrack is "Ask Me Anything" by The Strokes which makes this movie even more cool if that was even possible from what we see in the trailer. Love the casting for this. I'm a huge fan of Mandy. I think she is very underrated. This seems to have a Garden State thing going which obviously isn't a bad thing. I find ironic that Mandy who dated Braff is the lead chick in this. Then there is the trendy indie soundtracks but where Grarden State mostly had a acoustic bare sound this is filled with lush keyboards and a abundance of mellotrons and synth's all over the tracks by The Strokes, Fischerspooner, and Deerhoof. Well played.

At first listen I found the piecing of the softer and heavier parts quiet stange but definitely after a few listens you really appreciate what The Stars are trying to accomplish with there lush arrangments. I don't know if it gets any more heavenly then Amy's vocals on this. Lines like "Your reckless heart, You know you got it" and "I find your mouth and try to hold it" are delivered so elegantly.

All my favorites come from New York; The Strokes, Interpol, The French Kicks and The Walkmen. Now introducing White Rabbits who sounding very much like the latter of that talented bunch of NYC rockers. The Plot has relentless drums, some Walkmen-esqe piano and some sweet "whoaaaa's". I'm impressed.
